☽ About the Wheel of Hecate — The Strophalos
The Wheel of Hecate, known in ancient Greek as the Strophalos (στρόφαλος), is one of the most sacred symbols associated with the goddess Hecate. Its design features a labyrinthine wheel with a six-pointed star at its core — representing the eternal cycles of the moon, the spiral path of initiation, and the three realms over which Hecate presides: the sky, the earth, and the underworld.
In ancient Hellenic tradition, the Strophalos was used as a ritual tool and protective amulet, spun on a cord during magical rites to invoke Hecate's presence and power. Today it remains a central emblem in Hellenic Reconstructionist and Dianic Wiccan traditions — a symbol of the divine feminine, the mysteries of the night, and the courage to walk the crossroads between worlds.
To wear the Wheel of Hecate is to carry her protection — and her light — wherever the path may lead.
