In Greek Mythology, Lacedaemon was a mythical King of Laconia, son of Zeus and Pleaid nymph Taygete. He was married to Princess Sparta and the one gave his wife's name in the legendary city of Sparta. Lacedaemon is considered to be the first ancestor of the Spartans.
