Medusa Pendant, Sterling Silver — Ancient Greek Gorgon Mythology Jewelry
Northlord

Regular price €67,93
Forged in solid 925 sterling silver with a rich oxidized finish, this Medusa pendant captures the legendary Gorgon in breathtaking detail. Every serpent coiling through her hair, every line of her serene yet powerful face — rendered with masterful precision in high-relief silver. The contrast between the polished face and the darkened serpents creates a dramatic, three-dimensional effect that commands attention.
Medusa is one of the most iconic figures of ancient Greek mythology — a symbol of feminine power, protection, and transformation. In ancient Greece, her image was worn as an apotropaic amulet — the Gorgoneion — believed to ward off evil and protect the wearer from harm.

🐍 About Medusa — The Gorgon of Ancient Greece
In ancient Greek mythology, Medusa was the most famous of the three Gorgon sisters — mortal, unlike her immortal siblings Stheno and Euryale. Once a beautiful woman, she was transformed by the goddess Athena into a creature with living serpents for hair and a gaze that could turn any living being to stone.
Yet Medusa's story is far more complex than the monster of legend. In many ancient traditions she was revered as a powerful protective deity. Her face — the Gorgoneion — was one of the most widely used apotropaic symbols in the ancient world, appearing on shields, temples, armor, and amulets to ward off evil and protect the bearer from harm.
Today, Medusa has been reclaimed as a symbol of feminine strength, resilience, and the power of transformation. To wear her image is to carry that protection — and that power — with you.
