Elder Futhark was a writing system used by Germanic Tribes. During the Viking age Scandinavian people used an alternate version the Younger Futhark. Experts believe that the Runic Alphabet was based on the early Greek Alphabet. Runic inscriptions have found on Viking jewelry, amulets, weapons and in the famous Runestones.
